Grab a Sunlounger and Join the Party
Give that bland corner of your garden an upgrade by placing a charming shed in that space. No, not the rundown kind that you have not dared to venture into for months, a darn nice one. We are talking about one that enhances the area, and calls to be entered. And once you do cross the threshold make it stylish and attractive.
Consider external details such as window boxes, weather vanes, or gingerbread trim. Then depending on the style of the shed, you can do some very creative landscaping. You can carry a theme, or angles into the surrounding area to build a coherent terrain. Think of curves, peaks, or any other repeating shape when making your selections. For example, curved back outdoor seats, round wind chimes, and circular path stones. Then you can produce repetition, and harmony in the design. Carry on as far as your imagination will allow, and revel in your stylish, inspired creation.
I know, I know your garden shed is already packed to the gills, but here is one more thing you should consider adding into the mix, finial topped guides. They can be strategically placed around the outline of your planting beds to protect your garden plants from the hose.
The darn hose always gets pulled to and fro, and stuck on things constantly. The last thing you want is to damage the lovely blooms you are growing with that troublesome hose. Protect what you have invested your time, energy and money into.
Of course, these final tipped guides are not only functional, but they are available with extremely attractive tops. Thus they are decorative pieces as well, making them stylish and smart. Some that I have recently admired include artichokes and pineapples.
Recycling used everyday items is always much enjoyed in a garden area. So, I am constantly on the look out for something attractive, inventive and uncommon in my travels. An idea that I simply adore is propping an old retro bike up in a garden and growing beautiful flowers out of a handle bar basket and rear tire basket. Because of the bikes sheer size, it naturally becomes a feature, but with it all dolled up in a charming bright paint, and flowers cascading from it, the bike morphs into a favourite feature.
Once you have selected the flowers, you can continue to dress your darling bike up with raffia, ribbons, hanging signs, and even adorable moss animal replicas, or ceramic vegetables. It goes without saying that the ideas sill just flood out once you begin this project. Plus, each season you can reinvent a theme with it, and get more and more elaborate.
While reading the gardening section of the Telegraph Newspaper I came across the info that the papers online garden shop had a special going for readers. I am familiar with the Telegraph Garden Shop for its wide array of garden accessories and edible plants. But, I was specifically impressed with the offer which included all you really need to create your own small vegetable patch.
Upon review of the seed contents in the collection I concurred with the claim that the items were in fact ideal for cultivating ones own veg patch. This is quite a relief to me because I am constantly being asked about what one should include in a started patch, and here it is all assembled and ready to go.
I am in the process of obtaining one of the kits for my niece so I cannot speak firsthand in this instance yet, but based upon my past experiences with the shop, I am quite confident that the materials will include proper instructions. Should further questions arise regarding gardening, or more materials required, the website for the shop itself has tons of great stuff.
After all of these years as an avid gardener, I can vouch for one thing, quality tools on average are absolutely worth it. I have purchased some budget tools, and nearly every time, soon after watched them bend or break. So, ironically, one of the best tools I can recommend is a tool organizer. Get yourself reliable tools, and then take proper care of them. There are of course umpteen different products on the market for keeping track of your helpful tools, so make sure you purchase one of them to keep everything in tact. You can get them in virtually any shape, size or even material. Industrial strength or fabric, free standing or wall mounted, it is all up to what is going to work for you in the space you have allocated. Be good to the tools and they will show you years of dedication in return. In sum, buy bargain basement tools or ignore good ones, and face the consequence.
One of the most innovative ideas for a garden shed is using the hull of an old boat. The appearance alone is intriguing, and sinuous. Given the opportunity this is one idea that I will most definitely incorporate into a clients, or my own garden. And if there is space for more than one, the repetition of the shape will surely create a harmonizing effect that will be just short of magical. Such a collection of garden sheds that would undoubtedly be the envy of all.
The inspiration for this idea comes from a photograph on the National Trust website. The image is delightful, and the story accompanying it just as special. The unusual structures made of upturned boats are not only an impressive form of recycling, but certainly are one of the more special designs that one could encounter. And a garden is exactly a place for special items.
